A Preliminary Checklist of Auchenorrhyncha (Hemiptera) from Bangladesh

Abstract

A preliminary checklist of Auchenorrhyncha (Hemiptera) from Bangladesh is provided, based primarily on literature records from 1758 to the present. In total 11 families, 34 tribes, 55 genera and 74 species are recorded with taxonomic details. Among 25 genera of Cicadomorpha, 7 genera are firstly recognized herein: Goniagnathus Fieber, 1866; Hecalus Walker, 1858 ; Exitianus Ball, 1929; Kolla Distant, 1908; Rhytidodus Fieber, 1868; Scaphoidella Vilbaste, 1968; Penthimia Germar, 1821 and 8 species of them are recorded for the first time in Bangladesh: Goniagnathus punctifer (Walker,1858); Hecalus porrectus (Walker,1858); Scaphoidella sp. Vilbaste, 1968; Penthimia picta Provancher, 1872; Penthimia nigra Goeze, 1778; Kolla bataviae (Bierman, 1910); Rhytidodus decimusquartus Schrank, 1776; Exitianus indicus Distant, 1908. In the Fulgoromorpha, family Derbidae Spinola, 1839, and 3 genera are also firstly recognized herein: Tagosodes Asche & Wilson, 1990; Tropidocephala Stål, 1853; Raivuna Fennah, 1978 and 4 species of them are recorded for the first time in Bangladesh: Deferunda qiana (Chen and He, 2010); Tagosodes cubanus (Crawford, 1914); Tropidocephala festiva Distant, 1906; Raivuna sinica Walter, 1851.
